I know, it's been way too long since my last update. But there has been a lot going on! And I hope to keep this more up to date. We moved halfway across the country to Kansas City in June and I swear that seems like last week. The plane ride that Brayden, Grandpa and I had to endure on the way back to Kansas was confirmation enough regarding why we are moving back. Flying is just getting to be way too much of a pain. But we finally made it and Brayden was a trooper, even after 4 hours of taxing on the runway, which did not include flying time and layover time!
The day we closed on the house I finally saw the house in person for the first time! Yes, Josh saw the house and put an offer on it before I'd seen it, but I definitely trust him! We are loving it and looking forward making it our own as time goes on. We took a trip to Seattle for my family reunion, a short Missouri trip for Josh's family reunion, and a couple trips to Wichita to see my family and friends. We have also had lots of visitors which is fun.
Other big news is that Brayden is going to be a big brother! Yes, I am "with child" and am scared to death of having TWO children, but so excited to meet the newest member of our family. I am working part time at the YMCA which is going well. I work two evenings a week and Sunday afternoons, so it's a bit of an adjustment. Brayden loves the kid area and it's nice to be part of the Y family again. We'll see what happens when "Dos" comes along!
Other than that we are enjoying life in KC and looking forward to the holidays! We are heading to Illinois this week for the Evans Family Octoberfest which is always fun and relaxing. Lots of coffee, smores and lying around :) Hope to have an update soon!

News From North Carolina!
So I am for sure the worst blogger in the world, but I can only do so much (sitting down and writing about the boring things that happen in my life doesn't seem to make it to the top of my priority list). BUT I wanted to shout from the rooftops our news that we will soon be moving back to the land of BBQ and Jazz, Kansas City!! It is truly bittersweet, and each day I have a feeling I will get more sad and realize what we are leaving here. But we are gaining so much and it truly is what's best for us, I believe :) Our parents sure would agree! No more plane trips to see family!
The next month or so will be a whirlwind, as we try to sell our house here, Josh starts his new job in two days (training at home), looking for a home long distance, moving halfway across the country, and trying to fit in as much hang out time possible with our wonderful friends here.
I can't say enough about our adventure here in Charlotte. I remember after we first moved here I wondered what the heck we were doing, we knew noone, I was so bored, and left so much of my life in Kansas City. But God blessed me so richly with friends, a great job, wonderful experiences, and the best gift of all, a bouncing baby boy. Charlotte will always hold a very special place in our hearts because of that. It also is a very tangible example of God's faithfulness in our lives. Even if we never did get back to the Midwest that wouldn't have changed God's goodness and love for us, but we truly felt that is where we belonged and after years of Josh trying, he did it! I will probably be more sad after leaving here than any other move. But also so excited about what lies ahead for us.

The movie of my life
My best bud Jillio and I always used to cast the movie of our life. At one point I think our payroll was a BAJILLION dollars because every person in our movies was super famous. But that's the fun of casting your own movie ;) The cast and characters always change, because the important and prominent people in your life changes constantly. And of course, I hope noone is offended, and I'm sure ages and such are off. As I think about it and get suggestions, these could change. So here it is for now.
Erin - Claire Danes
Josh - Bruce Willis
Brayden - Himself (oh yeah, he could do it)
Janice - Natalie Portman
Rachel - Molly Shannon
Dana - Parker Posey
Janna - Lauren Holly
Heather - Kimberly Williams-Paisley
Kath - Isla Fisher
Steve - Bradley Cooper
Mike - Kevin James
Molly - Alyson Hannigan
Jill - Charlize Theron
Jessi - Renee Zellwegger
Amac - Jennifer Garner
Anew - Amy Adams (for obvious reasons :)
Mom B - Annette Benning
Dad B - Phil Donahue
Spencer - Matt Damon
Jenny - Amy Brenneman
Whaddya think?

Welcome to my life
A steal from J-Star (everyone seems to use pseudonyms on these blogs...)
You'll often find me in
During this season, I am often found in a sweatshirt, preferably KU. Maybe with my new KU slippers (thanks Ame!). During the day though, I'm usually wearing my Y work clothes, i.e. my staff shirt with stretchy black pants. Comfy!
But I feel like I'm doing much better lately about being "presentable", I'm really into incorporating jewelry to make my boring clothes seem more interesting. And I LOVE my birkenstock clogs. Not fashionable, I know.
My beauty philosophy
"All about making myself feel good." This is what J-Star said, and I agree. The way I make myself feel good is being healthy, by exercising and eating right. If I do that, I feel beautiful, seriously. But I also think that, as cliche as it sounds, everyone has beauty that can only be conveyed if the person is confident and comfortable in their own skin. I think self confidence radiates such beauty, and can only be found by realizing your identity through Christ, and the unique person He has made you.
I can't live without
My morning coffee, exercise, my daily luna bar fix, Brayden's giggle.
A golden rule
If you have an issue with someone, confront them or shut your trap. Nothing else is helpful.
I've always had a crush on
I'll have to say Chipper Jones. Since I was like 12.
I'd describe my house as
Hmmm...home. That's all I can say. We feel comfortable here, we love coming home here. Even if it's coming back from seeing the family we love, and even if it doesn't have all the fancy trimmings, it's home. I'm seeking to make it more simple and organized. Not a fan of clutter. Which is hard when living with a man and a toddler.
I always serve guests
Coffee. All of our guests love coffee. I also usually try to make dessert when we have guests.
One stop shop
Target!! Definitely.
My life is organized into
LOTS! Home, Work, Kid, Marriage, Friends, Health, Church...much more i'm sure.
Well, that is my New Years Resolution - more organization. I'm not super anal or anything, I just want life to be more simple so we have more time for the good stuff.
I will never give up
I hate to say never. I'll probably have to say exercise, because in some aspect I hope to always be able to exercise. I can see myself having to give up coffee (which was my first instinct) for some health reason. But I hope not :)

Worst "Blogger" Ever
That's me. The worst blogger ever. I just don't know if it's for me. I just don't seem to set it as a priority right now. After checking my email and facebook, and checking all the blogs of my other friends, I'm pretty much done with doing anything on the computer. AND, I just don't have that much to write about! Sure, I have an adorable redheaded son (who just got his haircut today), a wonderful husband, 2 big dogs who continually annoy us but also steal our hearts at the end of the day, and we live halfway across the country from where we began. Well, after saying that, I'm sure I could find SOMETHING interesting to blog about.

Favorite versions of Christmas Songs
Ok, the time is upon us. HOLIDAY TIME!! And that means lots of Christmas music in the Evans household. I know some people absolutely abhor Christmas music, especially for very long. But we love it! (most of it) So for fun I thought I would list my favorite versions of the classics, and if you have any suggestions please let me know. I'm always up for new songs, but there are so many that it's hard to keep up.
O Holy Night - Martina McBride
Silent Night - don't really have one
Sleigh Ride - Ella Fitzgerald
O Tannenbaum - Vince Guaraldi Trio (Charlie Brown Christmas)
What Child is This - Jim Brickman
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Barenaked Ladies + Sarah McLachlan
Carol of the Bells -Manheim Steamroller (The Calling is a close second)
Little Drummer Boy - Ray Conniff Singers
The Christmas Song - Nat King Cole
O Come O Come Emmanuel - Michael W. Smith
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Judy Garland

Commercials that disturb me...
1.) The one for a nose hair trimmer that shows a CLOSE UP of a guy using it for his nose. Seriously, all you could see was the guys nose and him sticking the trimmer up his nostrils.
2.) I can't remember what this product is called, some sort of sound amplifier. It looks like a big silver cicada bug thing that you stick on your ear, I assume to sort of look like a blue tooth piece but it looks really dumb. Anyway, it tells you the many places this sound amplifier would be useful, including at lectures and shows, watching TV, and listening discretely at parties!!! They actually said, "Ever wonder what people are saying at parties? Listen in discretely and find out!" SCARY!!
